Health is a condition of bodily, mental and emotional well-being where infirmity and disease are absent. Health is used often in combination with the definition of disability. A number of definitions have been used for different purposes throughout the years. We use the term to describe the quality of life that one experiences, rather than the pathology of any given ailment. In the modern world, we refer to it as morbidity.
Good health refers to the ability to function reasonably in society. This does not mean that individuals will be capable of leading a perfectly normal existence. Mental health refers to the ability to cope with normal day-to-day activities without requiring assistance. When it comes to physical health, we consider it to be the ability to maintain good health.
In addition, good mental health is necessary for coping with day-to-day stresses. Stress that is persistent and severe can lead to major illnesses such as cardiovascular disease, heart attacks, or hypertension. Although these conditions are usually the result of an underlying mental illness, mental illnesses are more likely to cause these kinds of serious health problems.
As a worker, you have two main obligations: one is to yourself, the other to others, both of which require a high level of self-discipline and responsibility. One way to ensure a higher level of personal responsibility is through occupational safety practices. The second is through ensuring good health. Both of these require daily work related stress management activities.
Occupational safety practices generally refer to the implementation of controlled exposures to dangerous substances and working under controlled or restricted conditions where the risk of injury is eliminated or reduced. There are many advantages to this kind of practice. It prevents the spread of diseases and other physical or mental disorders through negligence or reckless actions of the employees. Occupational safety also promotes a positive concept stressing social well-being, proper supervision of occupational tasks and the use of protective equipment and avoidance of unnecessary exposure to harmful substances that are known to be carcinogenic or toxic.
A positive concept emphasizes the importance of taking responsibility for your own health and the care you get from others. It empowers you to take personal responsibility for your own development and welfare and thus promotes a sense of satisfaction with your life. This kind of healthy approach to health enhances the individual’s sense of control over his or her physical, emotional, and mental wellness.
